"Month Birthdays"
The day is upon us, my little girl has reached 2 months old!
So I dressed her up, I put her pretty pink 2 month sticker on her belly and her little socks on her feet, & I took my daily photos for FaceBook and I was shocked when nobody, when normally we get tons of comments and likes, really paid much mind!
Someone ideas in boxing even said they thought it was a little much to celebrate every month (mind you this person has NO children.)
This made me curious so of course I went on Google, and I began typing and searching- I found tons of baby pictures of little ones celebrating not only only their 2nd month birhday- but also their 3-12 month birthdays as well!
After that revelation I started looking at my "mom friends" Facebook's, and I found that many of them also use belly stickers (and ties even ties for the ones who have little boys).
I guess I'm not crazy after all.
On a similar topic, I also had someone surprised I called my child 2 months old, and not 8 weeks.
I guess it's taboo?
Well, my child was 8 weeks days ago. Today marked her 2 months.
I see a difference.
Doesn't anyone else?
What is so important about choosing either weeks or months to age your baby? When do you stop using weeks and not days vs when do you start using months over weeks vs years over months?
Again I researched.
I found BabyCenter posts, I found BellyBelly posts, I found Yahoo Answers! posts, and guess what?
There is no rule.
I found mentions of moms going right to 1 week old after 4-5 days, some counting their child as 10 days old, some counted days the entire first month. Others still commented that they went further, such as describing their little one as 60 and higher days old!
Some moms said they count weeks up until 12 weeks or month 3, Some claimed they stopped at 6 months or 24 weeks, others said they continued the entire first year.
I saw a post where some girls said that they stopped counting months and started counting years at year one, some said 18 months- then they started saying 1.5 years. Some went up until 3 years old!!
So I have come to the conclusion that if you wanna throw your baby a party every month, or hell even every week for that matter- because the way you celebrate your baby's life is up to you!
As for me, I will be celebrating every month until 1 year, than yearly (I even considered half birthdays,) but you get my point. I will be counting weeks until 13 weeks, and then transitioning to months- until 3 years old. Then 2.5 and so on until college and beyond!
( I even gave my daughter a present!)
