Other Fun 4 month old Things

These are some Fun Things that i learned during my baby's 4th month.

My daughter's 10 lb 1 oz, is 11th percentile and her 25 inches in 75th percentile :)

She can have her ears pierced at 6 mos, her doctor said I should avoid doing it before that.

We started solids! One food for 4 days.
Her favorites are sweet potatoes, and bananas.

She is allowed to have up to 3 oz of water per day.

I'm allowed to offer up to 2 oz juice cut with water, every day.

My daughter hates cereal.

My baby can roll both ways flawlessly and is about to crawl!

A 4 month old can pull up.

She said her first lengthy thing, " I g'out?"

A 4 month old can and will watch a movie if it captures their interest.

Babies love books.

Freezable teethers save lives.

4 month sleep regression with baby getting up at 5 am only lasts about a week.

If a baby drinks too much water their sodium levels may go wonky and the baby can die or have a seizure.

Most babies reported cases of SIDS happens before 4 months.

Nontoxic nail polish is a very cool thing.

My baby is mean.

Lol

4 months recap

My Munchkin turned 4 months on May 19, 2016. Here is a recap of what was happening!

They were back.
The dreaded shots.

I had so many questons. Would this time be different? Would she be getting repeat shots or something new? Could she take or do anything different?
I was at a major loss. My baby sister had died just before her 4 month bday so I felt so much guilt celebrating, and yet I knew life must go on for us.
My dog also died on May 13, so it was a sad time.

Anyway, she had a dr visit to prep for and so I made a list of questions.

Can she try table food?

When can I pierce her ears?

Is it okay to paint her toenails?

Can she have Tylenol now?

Is she too small?

Can she drink water?

This is what I found before my doc visit:
Tablefood:
The General online consensus was 4-6 mos, and so that's what I decided to talk to about, since my girl was 4 months.

Her ears:
Everything i found kinda danced around with opinions, but it seems that nobody can find anythin harmful that will occur if you wait till their first shots.

Toenail painting:
PIGGY PAINT.
As Natural As Mud.
Seriously, I bought a lot. Haha

Tylenol:
TheBump.com claims two months! Hmm.
I wonder why her doctor said no at 2 months???

I decided to just ask him about her weight.

Can she have water:

So basically??
Wait till she starts solids!

Ps
My baby girl loves her piggy paint, we definitely polished her toes right away :)

3 months (recap)

My baby girl but 3 months on April 19, 2016. We celebrated like we always do.

She got a baby doll and a teether monkey, because my little squirt started teething early!

We had no 3 month doctor appointment so I had to fly blind, and I had lots of questions.

Is my baby growing right?

What can i do about her teething pain?

What will finally heal her cradle cap?

How much/often should my baby be eating?

And as usual. I turned to Google!

Is my baby growing right?
I had no idea what she weighed but:
From this chart it looks like a 3 month old is supposed to weigh around 16 lb..... my baby only weighed 9 something at last months appt. O.O

What can I do about her teething pain?
She's too young to take Tylenol and too young for orajel, but.
My only other option at point?
Google, says teethers. Lots of teethers.
Yay teether monkey!

As for the cradle crap....
If we only had enough hair to wash....

How often and how much should my baby eat?
Info: Here.
But basically, a 3 month old should say around 4-5 oz.
Mine couldn't digest more than 3oz in one sitting.... I couldn't find much on how often.
Yikes. Lol

My baby also started to all out giggle, and she said her first legit word.
"MINE."

BEWARE of Stranger Danger (for a very important reason.)

So today I join a new group on Facebook for Mommies and I stumble upon this post that absolutely horrified me.

I'm not sure how 100% true it is or of any validity, but it was enough to make me summarize the story (since I'm not allowed to directly share a closed group's post.)
--------

This lady was shopping with her girls in a Target  and the store wasn't too busy, this little girl kept coming up to her 5 year old asking her questions and showing her pretty toys.

The girl follows them for 45 minutes and refuses to talk talk to Mom, actually runs off if Mom says anything to her.

Mom leaves and goes to check and tells cashier she feels uncomfortable someone is following her, she notices a man trailing the little girl, when he approaches the girl disappears.

The cashier notices what happened and tells the mom to go to customer service and ask for someone to go out with her, once she does the man runs outside and jumps in a car.

They look for the little girl on the security camera and see her getting in the same car with another man that was walking around the parking lot.

Cops told the mom she did the right thing and that the men were sex traffickers who pray on mom's who are distracted with kids, and steal the easiest kid to get a hold of basically.

BE CAREFUL always put your kids in first.

Breast Is Not Always Best!!!!

I do not breast feed, my daughter is exclusively formula/bottle fed, and it's not only because it was a personal choice- but because I also don't think breast feeding is necessarily the best option.

Here's why:

1.) Breast fed babies can have a Vitamin K deficiency.
"Children who are entirely breast fed have a 20x greater risk of developing VKDB than those who receive formula milk."
Patient.info

2.) Breast fed babies need Vitamin D supplements.

"A supplement of 400 IU per day of Vitamin D is recommended for all breastfed infants."
Cdc.com

3.) Breast milk is not recommended before or during vaccinations.
"Breast milk which is packed with IgA & other important immune factors inhibits the vaccines from working."
ScienceBlogs.com

4.) Breastfed babies need extra iron after 4 months.
"If your baby is breastfed and not eating solid foods at 4 months, the AAP recommends an iron supplement of 11 MG per day."
Babycenter.com

5.) Breastfed babies are less "happy" babies.
"Babies that are breastfed cry more, laugh less, and generally have more challenging temperaments than bottle fed babies."

6.) Diet can affect baby's belly.
"Traces of some foods in breast milk do upset some babies."

7.) Most birth control not compatible.

"Estrogen-containing birth controls are not compatible with breast feeding." & "Some physicians do question the use of hormonal contraception in lactating mothers because of possible unknown side effects in their children's sexual or reproductive development."

8.) Breastfed babies don't gain much weight.

"Formula fed babies are much less likely to have trouble trouble gaining weight than breast fed."

9.) Breast fed babies don't sleep well at night.
"Most breastfed babies won't sleep for extended periods, because they get hungry."

10.) Cessating or "stopping" causes depression.

"Breastfeeding cessation was associated with an increase of anxiety and depression."

So my conclusion from all this?
1.) My bottlefed baby has no risks of late- term VKDB.

2.) My bottlefed baby does not need Vitamin D supplements.

3.) My bottlefed baby has zero risk of her vaccine effectivness being inhibited.

4.) My bottlefed baby will not be needing an iron supplement at 4 months.

5.) My bottlefed baby is very happy, laughs lots, barely cries.

6.) My bottlefed baby won't be effected by my diet.

7.) My bottlefed baby will never be effected by my choice of birth control.

8.) My bottlefed baby's weight gain was called perfect, by her pedi.

9.) My bottlefed baby sleeps lots, and sometimes I HAVE to wake her up to eat!

10.) My bottlefed baby's eating habits will not effect my depression status.

Conclusion?

BREAST is not necessarily BEST.

I wrote this not because I think breast feeding IS terrible, but because I'm tired of hearing how bottle fed babies are so much less healthy and I wanted to prove that that isn't even true...

Flu shot during, pregnancy reducing still birth?

Check out this article:
Upi.com

This is a very interesting piece, and it makes a lot of sense considering that the flu virus can cause still birth.
