Post Partum Anxiety

It's a thing.
I have it.

My midwife diagnosed me at my 6 week check up after having my baby, with Post Partum Anxiety.

Basically, it's similar to Post Partum Depression. Except you're not depressed or sad- you're anxious. Worried. Paranoid.

It makes you feel like you're losing your mind!

She said it was pretty uncommon and could last up to a year- or in some rare cases, longer.

What are the symptoms?

1.) Nightmares and or even Flash backs, (if something triggered the anxiety besides hormones.)

2.)  Panic Attacks.

3.) Restlessness.

4.) Insomnia.

5.) Strange fears and worries.

6.) The inability to leave baby.

There may be more symptoms, but these are the ones I most commonly have experienced and the ones I described when I was diagnosed.

I hadn't told anyone that I was feeling anxious or different, because I thought it was normal.

I was so sure that everybody experienced it that I just let it go, it wasn't until the MIDWIFE ASKED ME about anxiety that I realized what I was going through.

Not until she described my symptoms to me!!

She said it was uncommon, and not as talked about as PPD but that it could be treated.

Basically I wanted to write this & the symptoms out because I feel like so many mom's probably have PPA and don't even realize it.... And I know how bad it can be.

:)

Xoxo
