Vitamin K

I have a 2 month old, so this doesn't necessarily pertain to me anymore, since I'm no longer pregnant & my child received this orally at birth, but I've seen so many threads in Mommy groups and forums, that I just had to read up on it-- I was so worried about having made the wrong choice.

What is Vitamin K?
Apparently vitamin K is responsible for helping the body heal from injury, and the longevity of bones, health, and even life.

Why do babies need the Vitamin K shot?
Apparently it helps save them from blood clotting & hemorraging.

So how often do newborns hemorrage?
Between birth and 6 months, according to This, around 30 % of babies can hemorrage with out the Vitamin K shot.

Are breast fed babies even more susceptible to hemorraging?
I quote: "the primary risk is exclusively breast feeding."

Is Vitamin K safe?
I can't find anything giving any solid answers (yikes,) all I see is a mixture  of opinions & speculations that have no solid proof back them up, on Google, Baby Center, and other places.

My thoughts?
The oral version (which is thankfully what my baby got) is actually safer and that the benefits outweigh the risks.

So  is Oral Vit K safe?
NCBI is backing up the theory.
It is deemed as very safe & efficient.

I'm glad I got her oral vit K, makes me feel better knowing my decision is protecting her.
(Also makes me happy to find something  stating that it was our safest option.)
